  1. PVC-U Profile & Door System Guarantee

Patios Southwest Ltd. provides a 10-year guarantee on the Deceuninck PVC-U sliding patio door profile and associated frame components supplied by us, commencing from the date of delivery.

This guarantee covers manufacturing defects affecting the PVC-U profile and, where applicable, defects relating to the construction or integrity of the supplied frame system.

Deceuninck’s current UK information states that its sliding patio door systems are covered by a 10-year manufacturer guarantee.

The guarantee is subject to the product being correctly installed, operated and maintained in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidance and the requirements set out within this document.

Colour & Foiled Finishes

Deceuninck PVC-U sliding patio doors are available in a range of colours and woodgrain finishes. The relevant guarantee applies to the supplied finish subject to the environmental conditions, maintenance requirements and limitations applicable to the specific product and finish.

Products installed in particularly harsh environmental conditions, including locations with significant exposure to salt air, may experience accelerated deterioration and should be cleaned and maintained more frequently.

  1. Coastal Locations

PVC-U products are highly resistant to normal weather conditions; however, installations in coastal locations are exposed to increased levels of salt and airborne contaminants.

Where a sliding patio door is installed within 5 miles of the sea, additional cleaning and maintenance is strongly recommended to minimise the build-up of salt and other contaminants on the frames, seals, hardware, glass and drainage channels.

Failure to carry out appropriate maintenance may result in deterioration or operational problems and may affect the validity of a guarantee claim where the issue is attributable to inadequate maintenance.

  1. Hardware & Locking Mechanisms

Hardware and locking components supplied with your sliding patio door are covered by a 2-year mechanical guarantee from the date of delivery.

This covers manufacturing defects affecting the mechanical operation of the supplied hardware under normal use.

The hardware must be correctly operated and maintained throughout its service life.

Hardware Guarantee Exclusions

The hardware guarantee does not cover:

  • Normal wear and tear.
  • Damage caused by misuse or excessive force.
  • Damage caused by attempting to operate the door while it is obstructed.
  • Damage caused by incorrect operation of the locking mechanism.
  • Damage caused by inadequate cleaning or maintenance.
  • Corrosion or deterioration resulting from environmental conditions.
  • Damage caused by third parties.
  • Unauthorised alterations or repairs.

Hardware should be cleaned and lubricated periodically using suitable products in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.

  1. Sliding Rollers & Running Gear

The sliding mechanism and rollers are critical to the smooth operation of your patio door.

The door should always move smoothly and without excessive force.

The running tracks must be kept clean and free from dirt, grit, stones, leaves and other debris.

The guarantee does not cover premature failure or damage caused by:

  • Debris accumulating within the running track.
  • Excessive force being used to open or close the door.
  • The door being operated while obstructed.
  • Failure to maintain the running mechanism.
  • Damage caused by impact or misuse.
  • Normal wear and tear.

If the door becomes difficult to operate, it should not be forced. Continued operation when the door is not running correctly may cause damage to the rollers, track or locking mechanism.

Any operational issue should be reported to Patios Southwest Ltd. as soon as reasonably possible.

  1. Sealed Glass Units

The sealed glass units supplied with your sliding patio doors are covered by a 5-year guarantee against sealed unit failure, including misting or condensation occurring between the panes of glass where this is attributable to failure of the sealed unit.

Any marks, defects or concerns identified within the glass should be reported to Patios Southwest Ltd. as soon as possible following installation.

We follow the applicable industry guidance relating to the quality and clarity of sealed glass units.

Glass Damage

The following are not covered by the guarantee:

  • Breakages occurring after delivery or installation.
  • Scratches or chips occurring after delivery.
  • Impact damage.
  • Damage caused by incorrect cleaning methods.
  • Damage caused by inappropriate cleaning products or chemicals.
  • Damage caused by third parties.
  • Damage resulting from alterations or modifications.

  1. PVC-U Frame Maintenance

Deceuninck PVC-U products are designed to require relatively little maintenance. However, regular cleaning is essential to maintain their appearance and performance. DDeceuninck+1

The frames should be cleaned periodically using:

  • Clean water.
  • A soft cloth or sponge.
  • A mild, non-abrasive cleaning solution where required.

Do not use abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, solvents, aggressive chemicals or other products that could damage the PVC-U surface or coloured finish.

Particular attention should be paid to products installed in coastal areas, where salt deposits should be removed regularly.

  1. Drainage Channels

The drainage channels and drainage outlets within the door system must be kept clear.

Leaves, dirt, insects and other debris should be removed regularly to allow water to drain correctly.

Blocked drainage channels can result in water accumulation and may adversely affect the performance of the door.

Damage resulting from blocked or inadequately maintained drainage channels is not covered by the guarantee.

  1. Seals & Gaskets

The seals and gaskets around the door should be inspected periodically to ensure they remain clean, correctly positioned and free from damage.

Clean the seals using clean water and a soft cloth.

Do not use sharp objects or aggressive chemicals on the seals.

If a seal becomes damaged, displaced or deteriorated, please contact Patios Southwest Ltd. for advice.

  1. General Guarantee Conditions

All guarantees provided by Patios Southwest Ltd. are subject to the conditions contained within this document.

A guarantee claim may be declined where inspection determines that the issue has resulted from:

  • Misuse or neglect.
  • Accidental or deliberate damage.
  • Incorrect operation.
  • Excessive force.
  • Tampering or unauthorised alterations.
  • Incorrect installation.
  • Failure to follow the manufacturer’s installation instructions.
  • Failure to carry out appropriate maintenance.
  • Failure to keep tracks or drainage channels clear.
  • Use of unsuitable cleaning products or chemicals.
  • Normal wear and tear.
  • Damage caused by third parties.
  • Environmental conditions or contamination beyond those reasonably expected for the installation location.

  1. Installation Requirements

For the guarantee to remain valid, the sliding patio door must have been installed correctly and in accordance with the manufacturer’s installation requirements.

The product must not be altered, modified or repaired by a third party without prior approval from Patios Southwest Ltd.

Incorrect installation, modification or alteration may invalidate the relevant guarantee.

  1. Customer Responsibilities

The customer is responsible for ensuring that the sliding patio door is:

  • Used correctly and in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Kept clean and properly maintained.
  • Kept free from obstructions.
  • Kept clear of debris around the running tracks and drainage channels.
  • Not subjected to excessive force.
  • Not modified or tampered with.
  • Reported to Patios Southwest Ltd. promptly if an issue develops.

Regular maintenance will help to ensure smooth operation and maximise the service life of the door.

  1. Normal Wear & Tear

Our guarantees cover manufacturing defects and specific product failures occurring within the stated guarantee periods.

They do not cover normal deterioration associated with everyday use.

Components such as rollers, seals, gaskets, handles and other moving parts are subject to normal wear over time and may eventually require adjustment, servicing or replacement.

Such work may be chargeable where the issue is not attributable to a manufacturing defect covered by the relevant guarantee.

  1. Guarantee Claims

Any suspected defect or failure should be reported to Patios Southwest Ltd. as soon as reasonably possible after it is identified.

When making a guarantee claim, we may request:

  • Details of the issue.
  • Photographs or videos showing the problem.
  • Your original order or invoice details.
  • Access to the installation for inspection.

Patios Southwest Ltd. reserves the right to inspect the product before determining whether a guarantee claim is valid.

Where a defect is confirmed as being covered by the applicable guarantee, we will, at our discretion, undertake the appropriate remedial action, which may include repair, replacement of the affected component or another appropriate remedy.

The guarantee applies to the affected product or component and does not automatically restart or extend the original guarantee period.

  1. Inspection & Associated Costs

Where an inspection is required to investigate a guarantee claim and it is subsequently determined that the issue is not covered by the guarantee, Patios Southwest Ltd. reserves the right to charge for any inspection, attendance, labour, materials or other costs incurred.

Where a charge is applicable, the customer will be advised accordingly.

No charge will be made for a valid guarantee claim where the relevant defect is confirmed to be covered by the applicable guarantee, subject to the terms of this document.

  1. Exclusions

Unless specifically stated otherwise within this document, the guarantees do not cover:

  • Accidental damage.
  • Deliberate damage.
  • Misuse or abuse.
  • Neglect.
  • Normal wear and tear.

Where an account remains outstanding, Patios Southwest Ltd. reserves the right to suspend or withhold guarantee services until payment has been received in full, subject to applicable law.

  1. Important Information

All guarantees are provided in good faith and are intended to provide protection against manufacturing defects and specific product failures within the periods stated above.

Nothing within this document is intended to remove or restrict any statutory rights or consumer protections that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
